Walmart Ammo

I just picked up 5 boxes of 100 rnds of Winchester 9mm Luger. $20 and change per box. There as nothing there Thurs, Fri or Saturday. Do they get deliveries on Sundays. I guess so.

Feb 2011 is right around the corner, so get'em while you can.

I'm wondering if I should be buying for the next pistol. A 40?

I have a Glock Model 22 (.40 S&W). It is a damn fine gun. I highly recommend it. I am also thinking about getting the Glock 27, the sub-compact .40 S&W. We shall see. Let us know what you decide to get. :ok:

Lucky you. Seriously, I am always checking in at our store. They NEVER have anything. I keep hoping but no luck yet.

My local WallyWorld had ONE box of Winchester White Box .40 S&W (100 rounds) last week. I think it was somewhere in the neighborhood of $24. I should have picked it up when I had the chance but there was nobody behind the counter and I didn't feel like hunting down an employee. I will be going back tomorrow to see what they have.

I'll probably get another 45. I don't know about the 40 as a lasting round.

Years and years ago, I was very tempted to get a 10mm. I rented one and that pistol really barked loud. I haven't seen 10mm ammo on the shelves in a long long time.

The best pistol I own and one of my first is the Springfield Armory 1911 Gov. That pistol is one tough gun, and is highly accurate, and ammo will always be available.

**** And in 2011, Calif. requires ID, finger prints and limits 50 rnds per month. ****

I'm buying a lifetime supply and some to sell to friends, when ammo cost 5 times what it costs now.

There are several Walmarts near me. I check each of them several times a week. I usually walk out of them empty handed also.

For those curious. My anonymous PM sales, are becoming anonymous Ammo purchases.

Ammo is going to be golden bubble, and it's far more useful, and need by much of the population.

It was wondering the same thing. A google search reveals he is talking about CA's new handgun ammo registration. Why not just move?

EDIT: Goldbuyer beat me. I am slow.

Also no mail ordering of Ammo, and supplies will probably be next.

What happens in Calif is an indicator of what might happen accross all the states. Pay attention and act accordingly.

I was at the Vegas Gun Show last week and supplies are limited and interest is low. Slowly but steadily, the Gov. is going to clamp down hard on all guns owners of all states.

I just check MidwayUSA and their ammo prices are crazy also.

Appears the WMs around here have all but stopped selling handgun altogether.

They'll sell ya all the 12 ga birdshot you want, however.

Just out of curiousity, why don't you view the 40 as a "lasting" round?

To new. If it's not in my 1987 edition of Speer Reloading Manual it's to new.

haha. I like that.

The .40 is actually quite popular and it isn't going anywhere soon. I wouldn't worry about it.

The 10mm isn't in my manual either. While I was checking midwayUSA, I saw all kinds of ammo that I had never heard of. Yes, I think the 40s going to be around for a while also. I'll have to rent one next time I'm at the local range.

I think the .40 S&W will be around -- can't say the same for the .357 SIG and .40 GAP however.

I don't understand... does that mean they ARE selling handgun ammo??

I no longer believe CA will lead the rest of the US.
that ammo law alone wouldnt pass in 2/3's of the country
2-5 years ago yes
now not so much

the blues will get bluer........and the red states will reach a tipping point on bailing them out.

10mm is a prefect example of why you have to be careful about new calibers. When the FBI adopted the 10mm lots of people thought it was the future. Today it is around, but is pretty exotic compared the volumes of 9mm, .40, and .45 that sold.

Re: Walmart Ammo

My local Wal Mart gets a truck in every night. I usually swing by there after working 4x12 shift. They usually have some ammo on the shelves by then. You never know what they'll have and they limit you to six boxes of handgun or rifle ammo in my area. All of the popular handgun ammo is gone within 24 hours. It's actually getting better though. A few months ago all of the handgun ammo (except .22) would be gone by 9am.

I live in a Commie state so I can't have ammo shipped here(or I would).
I typically purchase ammo from my local gun shop.
I pay a couple bucks more per box,but I'm supporting a local business.
I'm always looking to save money, but Wally world isn't gonna make a special order for me nor do they give a rats a$$ about me or anyone else in any community that it ingests.
The wallmart plan is buy ammo in volume, "Mega-Volume",sell ammo cheap so everyone buys from them, meanwhile the local mom& pop gun shop goes out of business.Next WM returns their amunition to average or above average prices (once they crush the competition)My local shop is well stocked and I'll pay a couple bucks more for personal service and to avoid Wallyworld's headache. I'm not supporting the WM conglomerate.

The .40 S&W is pretty much a nationally standardized LE round.
(yes,I realize some Law enforcement agencies use 9mm or.45)
Most major handgun manufactuers make a .40 version.IMHO the .40 cal will be around for quite awhile to come.

OK Im gonna hit Walmart for the WWB 9mm at 20 a pop thats 3 dollars cheaper than OMB express which I was about to order a 500 box of that and a 500 box of .45ACP, I wonder how much the WWB of .45ACP is at Walmart. I think 20.97 was what I paid the other day its on a threadhere somewhere or maybe it was 20.97 for the 9mm WWB.

I went to two Wal-Marts today and they had plenty of 9mm (WWB, Fedral range), .223 (WWB, Federal, Remington), .308, .30-30, .22, .38 special (WWB JHP), some .44 mag, very little 7.62x39, and a lot of several different hunting rifle rounds I am not familiar with. The selection was higher than normal.

WWB .45 JHP is $31 here.

Yeah the WWB 9mm was 20.97 for the 100 round value packs and they didnt have any .45 so I dunno how much they are and Im sure the WWB hollow point you stated is probably more expensive than the regular FMJ, lets see, if my calculation is right OMB has the WWB .45ACP for 44.20 each 100 pack which is way more than the JHP as Walmart, Im goin to WalMart next week then!

Oh yeah, heres the thread discusssing the ammo prices at Walmart

The .45 and 9mm are the kings of auto-pistol ammo IMO. the 40 may be commom at the moment but its a cop cartridge. I feel in the future,in a NWO enviornment, the 40 will be displaced by the 9mm .

I dunno about that, gb. The fact that .40 cal is cop ammo, is enough to keep that ammo around for a long time, note .38 Spl's longevity.

Revolver ammo is a different beast. .38 has been around forever and is a download for the 357, gives it a big advantage, having little to do with LEO usage.

50 rounds a month? that sounds like crazy days at the range.

"well, jed, good shootin' today."

"yep, well let's pack 'er up, no telling what we'll do with another 7 rounds next weekend, huh?"

My point is; .38 Spl was the cop ammo for about 40 years. Once a cartridge achieves a following among cops, it will be popular and available for a looong time.
